Harriett LiebermanOctober 20, 1928 ~ February 3, 2017 (age 88)
Harriett Lieberman 88 passed away February 3, 2017. Born in New York, Harriett came to the area in 1950. She was the bookkeeper, accountant and business partner at Southland Distributing Company, a wholesale beer distributorship which served Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco and Hernando counties. Harriett was a member of Temple Beth-El, and was active in the Temple Beth-El Art Show. She was one of the first Founders of Menorah Manor in 1983, and established the first area Jewish Girl Scout Troop. Harriett was a donor who loved theatre, American Stage, FreeFall, and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. She was a three time past president of the Jewish Community Center of Pinellas County, and was a volunteer director for two years, running the Bingo games for many years at the Kapok Tree location to keep the doors open. She had established a Camp Kadima Scholarship fund while being honored as one of the Pillars of the Community in 2007 along with Thelma Rothman and Eddie and Wally Loebenberg. Her kindness and generosity will always be remembered.
Harriett is survived by her daughters Susan LaPlante and Jackie Kanner (Barry), grandchildren Richard (Brooke) Brian (Kirsty), and Eric (fiancée Morgan) and great grandchildren Evan and Emery. Harriett was predeceased by her husband Erwin.
Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. Burial will follow in Royal Palm Cemetery-South.
