With heavy hearts the family of Donald J. Wrobel announce his peaceful passing on October 20, 2018 at the age of 80. By his side was his devoted wife, Cori, whom he loved with all his heart from the moment he laid eyes on her as a teenager. Married for 56 years, he is survived by his wife Cori Wrobel, his brother Stephen Wrobel (Mary Jayne), Daughter, Dawn (Tom Koester), Daughter, Carri (Joe Lux) and Grandchildren Christopher & Jillian Koester, and Jeffery Lux.
He was cherished for his genuine positive outlook on life, tenacity, high standards, intellectual curiosity, insightfulness, generosity and devotion to his family and friends.
Born in Long Beach, NY, he graduated from Long Beach High School, 1956 where he had such fond childhood memories of growing up near the ocean, meeting Cori and making lifelong friends that he kept up with until the end.
Don was most proud that he was able to work fulltime at Dec-o-Grilles, Inc (family business) as a Bookkeeper and Production Manager while attending St. John’s University. He graduated in Accounting, 1960.
After graduation he began on a track that led him to having a very accomplished career and one that kept him very busy.

Don also served on a number of local Boards and was very active with the Boy Scouts of America.
Don and Cori were residents of Garden City, NY for 30 years, residents of Williamsburg, VA for 12 years and was currently living in St. Petersburg, FL.
Visitation will be held from 10-10:45 am on Friday, October 26 at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, 1201 Franklin Ave, Garden City, NY 11530, where services will begin at 10:45 am. Interment will follow at Locust Valley Cemetery in Locust Valley, NY.
