Dorothy C. Tull, 82 of St. Petersburg, FL passed away with her daughters by her side on Nov. 23, 2018 at Seminole Pavilion in Seminole, FL.
Born in New Haven, CT on Feb. 27, 1936, Dorothy made her home with her family in Santa Barbara, CA and later in Wells, ME. She was a retired bookkeeper and payroll specialist for the City of Santa Barbara, CA and York County Community Action in Maine. She attended Santa Barbara Business College where she received her Accounting & Data Processing Certificates. After raising her family and retiring, she moved to St. Petersburg to enjoy the warm sun, salt air, and beautiful beaches. She enjoyed long walks, afternoon swims, and sunsets with friends and family at Pass-A-Grille beach.
Dorothy also enjoyed spending time with her family, her many friends, and attending services at Unity of St. Pete, where she was active in many programs and volunteered many hours to help with decorations, events, and church services. She enjoyed traveling to Indiana, New Hampshire, and Maine to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and her many close friends. She loved to travel, shop, and was incredibly gifted in writing beautiful poetry and stories. She was an animal lover and had three golden retrievers who predeceased her – Ashley, Petrie, and Tucker, who she adopted from the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue. She also adored her cat, Lily, who she adopted from the Homeless Animal Rescue Team. She loved to sit on her patio and feed the many birds that would visit daily. She was a beautiful, gentle,and a gracious person who touched the lives of many friends, neighbors, and family members who will miss her dearly.
Survivors include her two daughters and son-in-laws, Heather and Ritch Diener, Laura and Sean Dodge; four grandchildren, Ryan, Isabella, Sam, and Meileya; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her brother. She leaves many close friends, including her soul-sister Debbie, who affectionately referred to her as their angel on earth.
A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Unity of St. Petersburg, 6168 1st Ave. N., St. Petersburg, FL, where family and friends are welcome. A private scattering of ashes at sea will follow with immediate family only.
