He was born August 28, 1928 at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA to Frederick A. and Elizabeth Wachter White. He was the brother of the late Elsie Carbey, Arthur White and Eleanor Alcorn Stein. Allen married his wife, Marian Groben, on August 19, 1950 and together they had three sons. Allen entered funeral service at the age of 15 years old for Kirk and Nice in Germantown, PA for summertime employment. After two years, he decided that this would be his lifetime career. He attended Eckel's College of Mortuary Science and graduated in 1949. He obtained his PA State Funeral Directors License in 1951. He went to work for the Wetzel Funeral Home in Willow Grove, PA and stayed there for 19 years. He then purchased and operated Wetzel Funeral Home under the name of Wetzel White Funeral Home until retiring in 1988. After retiring, Allen and his wife moved to Village on the Green in Clearwater permanently in 1995 where their three sons lived with their families in the Clearwater area. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Old York Road in PA as well as the Chamber of Commerce Montgomery County, PA and the PA State and National Funeral Directors Association. He was very active in his communities' activities. He served many terms on the governing board of the Patio Homes Association right up until his passing. He was passionate about traveling with friends, golfing (that special day on Nov. 14, 2012 getting that hole-in-one) at Countryway with his V.O.G. buddies, gardening (spending 20+ years on garden committee), music, animals, and always lending a helping hand to anyone who needed one.
