Tribute to “Stevie” Stephanie Smith Davis
“Stevie” Stephanie Smith Davis passed away on April 9, 2018 at her home in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Stevie was the daughter of the late Norma Jean and Ray Smith. Stevie was born in Midland, Michigan on May 22, 1957. She married her childhood sweetheart, Dr. Michael Davis on August 3, 1979 and together they have two loving children: Megan (Michael) Lane and Spencer Davis (Kelsey McCreary).
Stevie taught everyone who came to know her the meaning of unconditional love. Anyone who experienced Stevie immediately felt her loving presence. Known for her generosity, Stevie was a source of comfort for many. Loved ones sought and found refuge in her home and all were welcome. Aside from devoting her time to her family or the care of others, Stevie was a gifted artist. Her works of art can be found in homes and offices throughout Michigan and Florida. She also loved all types of music and would often open her home to musicians while encouraging and assisting in their creative endeavors. Stevie loved everyone and most of all she loved when her home was filled with friends and family.
Stevie cherished the last years of her life in her beloved Florida home, often sitting for hours on the end of her dock enjoying the serenity and beauty of the creatures swimming below her. She would light up like a child at the sight of a dolphin or manatee.
As kind and giving a person as there ever was, Stevie always kept a special place in her heart for her husband Mike and children Megan and Spencer. She and Mike were inseparable from the moment they met. She was his biggest booster through dental school and ran his Saginaw, Michigan dental office. Stevie was a wonderful loving mother to Megan and Spencer; her family was the light of her life. She always took a deep interest in the lives and well being of everyone and everything around her, always including a dog or two in her life.
Surviving besides Dr. Michael Davis and her children are many loving sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In accordance with Stevie’s wishes a private burial has already taken place. A memorial celebrating Stevie’s life and family will take place in Michigan at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to celebrate Stevie’s life are encouraged to make a donation to the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital of St. Petersburg, Florida. The Stevie Davis Children’s Birthday Fund will be used to bring joy to hospitalized children on their birthdays. Johns Hopkins All Children’s Foundation P. O.
